Granada, a university city

In Granada there are four University Campuses, in addition to the ‘Campus Centro’, which includes all the centres scattered throughout the historic centre of the city.

The UGR’s policy of recovering buildings of historical and cultural value has enriched its heritage, while favouring their restoration and maintenance.

This unbundled structure allows the university to be fully integrated into the city, and to deploy multiple university services throughout the city.

All this has undoubtedly made Granada a university city, where around a third of its population is directly related to the institution. University of Granada, Tradition
The University of Granada (UGR) was founded in 1531, being the continuation of a long teaching tradition linked to that of the Madrasa of the last Nasrid Kingdom.

At present, 89 degrees are taught in the 27 teaching centres of the UGR, where more than 60,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students study and another 10,000 take complementary courses, language courses, summer courses, etc. There are 3,500 lecturers and more than 2,000 administrative, technical and service staff.

Excellence The UGR, ranked among the best in Europe, is widely recognised internationally for its quality in the different university areas: teaching, research, culture and services.

The various national and international rankings that evaluate the teaching and research of universities place the UGR as one of the most highly valued in Spain.
